A Vector-Borne Disease Which Can Even Leads to Death

Malaria is a vector-borne disease which had a greater impact on humans than any other infectious agent. Malaria is seen in rural areas than in urban areas. This is because people in urban areas have better health seeking behaviour than those in rural areas. This disease is mainly caused due to mosquito bites. When a mosquito bites an infected person it takes some blood which contain microscopic parasite. These parasites get mixed with the mosquito’s saliva and get injected to other human body which makes him to cause Malaria.
Usually this disease is transmitted by Anopheles mosquitoes which normally feed at night. People generally use mosquito nets to be saved from this disease, but it is not a perfect barrier. Insecticide-treated nets which can kill mosquitoes are also available today which protects you from malaria but may cause great harm to the health. To protect you from such a hazardous disease its better to use the mosquito repellents which are made natural. Repellents do not kill mosquitoes; they just act as a protective shield around you that is unbreakable for the mosquitoes.
The person suffering from malaria show symptoms such as occurrence of sudden coldness, fever, headache and vomiting within 10-15 days after the mosquito bite. Approximately one million of death has occurred in each year due to Malaria. Malaria is found more in children which leads to greater child mortality. There are mainly four kinds of parasites which can infect humans. They are plasmodium falciparum, plasmodium vivax, plasmodium ovale and plasmodium malariae. If a person is in a serious condition then it’s sure that he is affected by the plasmodium falciparum. Malaria caused by other three species are not generally fatal.
Most of the mosquito repellents available today are chemical based and contain toxic substances which may cause harm to the health. DEET is the common chemical used in mosquito repellent which can easily repel mosquitoes. It is not good for the health and may even cause cancer. By knowing about the harm caused due to these chemical substances researchers from Australia and China has developed a herbal mosquito repellent which are very secure to use and does not cause any side effects. So in order to prevent such a dangerous disease natural mosquito repellent can be used.
